Artist Janet Wilson

An example of fine art by Janet Wilson

Photo of Janet Wilson

I paint to describe a sense of place, a time of day and the poetry of the landscape.  Painting for me is about seeing.  I feel the challenge of translating the land into an image made of oil paint.  Its about colour, shapes and edges.  It is about mood and light.  In the process, the painting becomes intimate and the scene is long remembered.  It is that memory that I wish to share with you.
I am both a plein air painter and studio painter.  If you look you might find me on a rocky shore, in a forest or the on the water.  I can be found in all seasons and in all weather.  I gravitate to the the soft light days, and to the subtle aspects of nature.
Janet is a representational oil painter.  She has a passion for the outdoors and the Canadian Landscape.  In her work she strives to capture a sense of the land in paint.
While balancing a busy career, Janet pursed the development of her art through workshops from exceptional landscape painters.  Now painting full time and with the love of painting, hard work and persistence she is an emerging presence in Canadian art.
Janet has a medical degree from the University of Western Ontario and practised in London, Ontario.  She is now a resident of Tobermory, Ontario.
