Photo of Janet Smedley

Janet Smedley grew up in West Chester, Pennsylvania and after years of living in Rhode Island, Washington, DC and Chicago, now lives in Lititz, Pennsylvania, a small 18th century town.  Itís a storybook life, being inspired daily by the ambience of small town living: walking her dog, Lucky, meeting friends along the way, going to the local pub with her husband every friday night.
She is a Registered Architect with a BFA and B Architecture from Rhode Island School of Design and a MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has recently completed the Art2life program with Nicholas Wilton.
Her work is abstract/representational with an emphasis on painterly application of the paint.
She is the middle of three generations of artists.  Her mother, Joyce Smedley, a painter in watercolor and oils, and her daughter, Diana Egnatz, a photographer in New York City, both are inspirations to her.
