Drawing and painting have always been a part of my life, but it wasn’t until my sophomore year in college that I was encouraged to pursue an art career.  I then transferred from Boston University to Philadelphia College of Art.  Prior to graduating, I was married and soon became a stay-at-home Mom.  Once the children were in school, I went back to work but not in the art field – product sales, real estate sales, office management and campus ministry.   Even though I created paintings and pen and ink sketches over the years, I was not able to pursue an art career until recently.  At this time of my life, I have been blessed with the freedom to do artwork fulltime!  During our years in Pennsylvania, I enjoyed drawing and painting historic and commercial sites as well as farm houses and barns.  My husband and I moved to Franklin Tennessee in 2008.  We were amazed at the beauty and history of this area.  I see inspiration for art everywhere I look!  I have also been inspired by our oldest son’s home in a picturesque village on a fjord in Southern Norway.

I enjoy oil, acrylic and watercolor painting, as well as pen and ink drawing.  With pen and ink, the contrast between black and white with gray tones is stunning to me!   Pen and ink drawing is particularly suited to homes, buildings, waterfront scenes, ships and machinery.  It’s very detailed and exacting, because once the ink goes down on the paper, it’s a done deal.  There’s no erasing or painting over it!  That’s part of the fun and the challenge!  Painting is wonderful because I can create an impression [...]
