An example of fine art by Janet Broussard

Photo of Janet Broussard

Janet Broussard is from west Texas, and an accomplished painter living in Austin, Texas.  Working in oil, she strives to capture the vitality of the moment, with bold lines and color.
Janet’s artistic talent started at an early age.  Constantly painting and drawing, with frequent milestones of recognition for her artistic talent, she attended the University of North Texas where she majored in Advertising Art.
Early in her painting career, Janet became known for her landscapes, still lifes, and architectural work having studied with such notable painters as Matt Smith, Scott Christensen, Skip Whitcomb, John Budicin, and Don Ward. She has had her work juried into shows with the Salmagundi Club, Oil Painters of America, American Impressionists, Salon International, and Arts for the Parks.
After learning of her deep family ties to the founding of the Republic of Texas and her great grandfather’s cattle driving days, and remembering her grandfather’s Hereford ranch, she studied Texas history, enamored with cowboy, ranch, and rodeo life. This fueled her enthusiasm for western art.
“I am enjoying exploring lines borders and shapes in my current series of Western Contemporary paintings.  I am playing with stylized subjects such as clouds, animals and landscapes, sometimes using a border to emphasize the animal, sometimes using simple lines.  I find these elements make the images more dynamic.”
I’m gratified to see so many artists dedicated to keeping the Western way of life alive, and that the cowboy way of life is generations strong.
Janet has shown in Juried Exhibitions in New York, California, Arizona, Mary- land, Wyoming, and Texas.
