"Whether working in oil paints, pastels, watercolors, drawing with pencil, or pen and ink. or experimenting with Cold Wax Medium (CWM)--my work is my signature, the sum of the lines, marks, brush work and palette--call it my calligraphy. I strive to combine observation of the real world with aspects of imagination and memory."
Biography:  Jane Goodman grew up in  Rhode Island and was awarded a B.A in studio art from Connecticut College after which she moved to New York to pursue a career as an actress on stage and in television commercials. She has resided in Newport, Providence and Little Compton, Rhode Island,  New York City, Washington, D.C., and Virginia.  She owned an award-winning advertising and public relations agency where she guided clients portfolios as a writer and creative director. She joined the Federal Aviation Administration as a senior public affairs official from which position she retired. She returned full time to her artwork in 2010 and has studied and participated in workshops in the US and abroad. Among her favorite locations is Provence, Tuscany, and Sicily. She records her travels in visual journals.
She  enjoys experimentation with a variety of mediums, selecting the most appropriate one for a given artwork. Experimentation with a variety of techniques and formats enables new directions to bloom.  Direct observation, contemplation, and memory make her work personal, intimate and accessible.  She maintains a studio/gallery in downtown Charlottesville, Virginia (Yellow Cardinal Studio) where guests are welcome if wearing a mask.
