ABOUT THE ARTIST: Jane grew up in  Michigan. Her journey of art-making began at the age of eighteen with her first camera where she found joy  in looking  through the viewfinder, composing  a world, then seeing  that world  come to life in the darkroom. Jane has worked in a variety of media since that time and now focuses on painting. She works in oil mixed with cold wax and  also in acrylic.  Jane is an award-winning artist, showing her work in regional and national juried exhibitions since 1994.  She has advanced her art practice through workshops, university fine art courses, private mentoring and self-study. At the age of fifty, Jane received her Masters Degree in Social Work. During her years as a psychotherapist she continued to create her own art and encouraged her clients to use art as a means of self expression. Since retiring, Jane paints daily in her home studio in East Aurora, NY and is represented by Meibohm Fine Arts. Her original passion remains the same, to revel in the joy of creation and bring the viewer along with her.ARTIST STATEMENT: My painting practice is mainly focused on landscape and how to convey the emotion and mood inherent in that magical place where land meets sky - the horizon.
