Artist Isabel Wadsworth

An example of fine art by Isabel Wadsworth

Photo of Isabel Wadsworth

ARTIST STATEMENTAlways fascinated by visual imagery – in nature and in art, Isabel Wadsworth chose the oil painting medium to translate her vision of people, animals, architecture, and landscapes.  As an artist, Isabel is continually inspired by the legacy of other artists and refreshed by the novelty in every scene she paints.
An artist since her childhood in Connecticut, Isabel took classes in drawing and sculpture, printmaking, and painting. She studied two years with local sculptress, Mary Lewis, and took classes at the Paier School of Art. She attended Wellesley College, where she graduated with a major in art history and minor in fine arts.  She received her Master’s Degree in art history after completing studies at the Villa Schifanoia, Florence, Italy. After living in New York City for several years, she moved to Los Angeles, where she continued painting, eventually concentrating on portraiture and landscapes. Her preferred painting medium is oil on linen canvas. For over thirty years she has painted personal portraits and official portraits – single and group, formal and informal. In addition, she paints animal paintings, still life pieces, and landscapes – the latter comprising most of her work in galleries and exhibitions.
