Photo of Helen David

Helen attended Brooklyn College and taught elementary school until her family grew. She became licensed as a registered representative and worked as a stock broker.
Painting for Helen is a welcome haven. It brings relief to the pressure and demands of life, creatively and with great satisfaction. Helens immediate need for expression directed her to explore various painting styles.
Helen's Art education began at the Art Institute of Ridgewood with Betty Kaytes as the inspiration in still life. She attended the Art Students League taking classes with modern masters, David Leffel, Gregg Kreutz, and Nelson Shanks. She studied at the Vitlacil School with Andy Lukach, Dan Dickerson and Max Horbund. Helen attended workshops with well known artists Charles Sovek, Kim English, T.L. Lawson, Quag Ho, and Carolyn Anderson.
Helen received awards in juried shows and was selected emerging artist. She participated in gallery-solo shows, group shows, sold paintings at Newark Museum fundraising events and received recognition from Raymond Steiner of The Art Times. She is a life member at The Art Student League and maintains membership with other organizations.
Helen instructed art classes for many years in her home studio for all ages and ranges. Her Gallery solo shows included The River Gallery, Objects  and Images, and The Bridge Gallery.
