Drawing has always been a passion of mine from the time I drew horses across from my home as a child to my high school years when I won a scholarship to Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio.
Marriage and a family took my time after I left art school and working to help support our family meant something other than art.  When I retired from the working world, I went back to the passions of my youth – drawing and horses.  I bought my first (and only) horse and looked for an art teacher.
Luckily I found both where we were living at the time – Dallas, Texas.  I studied colored pencil with Linda Lucas Hardy for five and a half years and entered various local and regional art competitions.  My artwork won awards at the State Fair of Texas, McKinney, Keller, Grand Prairie, Richardson, Irving and other Texas locations.
I was invited to participate in the Bosque Art Classic in Clifton, TX.  I started joining national organizations dedicated to equine art and colored pencil art like the Colored Pencil Society of America, the American Association of Equine Artists, Women Artists of the West and American Women Artists.
These organizations have all helped me to develop and strengthen my artistic ability as well as meet wonderful new friends and teachers.  As a result, the learning curve for me was shortened considerably as I tried various surfaces, types of pencils and tricks of the trade.
Currently I enter competitions nationally and internationally and meet with other artists on a weekly basis for exposure to new things in the art world.  I have [...]
