An example of fine art by Harry Burman

Originally from New York City,  I now live with my wife in Brewster, NY.  Though I enjoy painting landscapes, still lifes and animals, the human figure and face are currently my main focus.
I earned my BFA degree from Herbert Lehman College and was a scholarship student at the Art Students League in New York.  I was lucky to study drawing with the great draftsman and illustrator, Gustav Rehberger.  After illustrating for over 20 years I've decided to pursue my own work and I have a great love for painting portraits.  I've worked in all media except sculpture.
In 2013, I was invited to become an active member of the National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic, where it was my honor to win the Robert Sanstrom Prize, the society's top award. In 2014 I received the Gerry Lenfest Award for American Art at the NSPC&A 60th Annual.  I'm also a member of the Portrait Society of America, the Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists (CSOPA)  and the Society of Creative Arts of Newtown(SCAN).  Other awards include Best in Show twice at CSOPA and Best in Show three times at SCAN's annual exhibit. My work has appeared in American Artist Watercolor in 2012 where I was a finalist in their self-portrait competition.  My work is included in "Acrylics the best of acrylic painting"  published by North Light Books 2014 and was also featured in Artist's & Graphic Designer's Market and the Acrylic Artist magazine Fall 2014 issue.
