Biography

I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember… Crayons, clay, paint, anything malleable I could get my hands on; creating art has been my personal challenge, my escape from reality, and my favorite source of entertainment. The act of capturing the thousands of colors which shine from a horse’s coat in the summer sun, or the shape of a shadow leaning in the evening light is what drives me to paint, in order to attempt to represent that moment that made me stop and look closer, or just the quality of light and air that makes a person take a deeper breath and remember that life really is beautiful.

I started my formal art career by attending Colorado State University as an art major. After an extensive break, I was re-inspired to return to art after seeing an amazing painting at the Coors Western Art exhibit. I was fortunate enough to find and enroll in the Classical Art Academy of Boulder Colorado where I attended classes and developed my skills in painting. I entered my first juried art show in 2011, “What Color is a White Horse” was published Ex Arte Equinus 5. At the Regional Iowa Artists Juried show I received first in the oil category for “The New Foal,” and was subsequently invited to have a solo exhibit at the Witter Gallery in Storm Lake, Iowa. Art is an adventure, one that challenges, frustrates but also offers rewards and surprises every time I pick up a paintbrush.
