Artist Glenda Crawford

An example of fine art by Glenda Crawford

Photo of Glenda Crawford

Glenda Crawford began formal training in 2013 through study with artists Laine Francis, Helen Farson, and others in the art community of central North Carolina. Her learning has been enriched through plein air study in Provence and Tuscany. Crawford's style is soft impressionism that combines brush and palette knife on linen canvas. The colors are feathery and playful as they dance, capture light and reflect movement. Inspired by the work of artist Nancy Franke, Crawford enjoys painting  informal portraits of children. Piper and Quinn, her grandchildren, were my first and remain her favorite subjects. Retired from Elon University, Crawford continues to teach graduate courses in gifted education in the School of Education. She is a native of Burlington.
According to Crawford, "When I am painting in my studio, time stands still and the dance is."
