An example of fine art by Ginger Hansen Shafer

When I was  twelve when I encountered the art of Georgia O’Keefe on a visit to Ghost Ranch in New Mexico. Seeing her world firsthand, and then through her paintings was a powerful experience. It sparked my interest in painting.
I received a BFA from Parsons School of Design in New York. In class I had many influential teachers like Maurice Sendak, and David Passalacqua, and in the cities museums I learned from Rembrandt, Vermeer, Van Gogh, Sorolla, and Cezanne.
My greatest teacher is nature. Whether it’s the way light draws itself upon a landscape or the way color combinations appear in front of you, painting is a way for me to experience and understand the world. It is an alchemy of emotion, touch, and vision.
I have been in many group exhibitions; and my paintings are in private collections across the country.
I hope you enjoy my work.
