Artist Frances Obie

An example of fine art by Frances Obie

Photo of Frances Obie

Frances grew up in West Vancouver, B.C., lived for years in Ontario and now calls Fort St John home. At an early age she gained an interest in drawing from her father who was a painter and her mother, an art teacher. She has travelled extensively across Canada and the US collecting material for her work. Locally, she is especially intrigued by the expansive skies of the Peace Country. She combines first hand experience, photography, memory and imagination to create her landscapes. Frances believes that the translucency and immediacy of pastel makes it the ideal medium. She has won awards for her work , earning Master Pastellist designation through Pastel Artists Canada. Her work is enjoyed by private collectors throughout the country.
