Artist Forrest Long

An example of fine art by Forrest Long

Photo of Forrest Long

I am a Canadian living in Alabama. My roots are in Atlantic Canada and that is evident in my work that often gives evidence of a rural and nautical theme. I am open to painting other venues, including abstracts, some of which are featured here on the website.I studied painting with several teachers but found my main niche in watercolor under the teaching of Tim Turpin in Nova Scotia. I still spend time  every year in Atlantic Canada photographing scenes, sketching and painting. My art is owned by collectors in Atlantic Canada and in the United States. If you have any questions about any of the paintings displayed here, please email me. Also if you would like to commission a work please contact me. You may purchase from the website and I personally guarantee all the work here to be original works of art. At the present time I do not sell any reproductions. I had my first solo exhibit in Tuscaloosa, AL in 2008 and had my work in the gallery in Tuscaloosa as well as in a gallery in Northport. In September 2010 I had fourteen paintings in the First Invitational Fine Art Show at the Fine Arts Center in Hartselle, AL.  In February/March 2013 I was artist of the month at the Hartselle Fine Art Center. I presently work out of my home studio in Birmingham. I was owner of Red Door Art Gallery in Hartselle, but after a year of struggling economic times I closed the gallery. In September/October 2018 I had a solo show at the Pilgrim UCC in Birmingham, the first showing of my work here in the city.
