Biography

Erica Munnings' first artistic influence was her father. He would draw her the cartoon characters she loved and encourage her to draw as well. This grew her life long love of drawing people.

She studied oil painting and photography at Roberts Wesleyan College. While she strived for realism in her paintings, she pushed her photography into fantasy worlds through photo manipulation, costume creation and location shoots. Many ideas coming to her in the late hours of the night, leaving her to scribble notes in the dark to decode in the morning. These often turning into her favorite works.

A spur of the moment decision to take a community pyrography class led her to the art of painting with heat. She enjoyed shading the folds of fabric in her piece “Beautiful Lie” and seeing how much detail she could achieve with the burning tools. Receiving commissions furthered her development and allowed her to capture memories for others.

Erica is now working on larger pieces and bringing the fantasy element she loves into this medium.
