My love of art started as a young child sketching animals and flowers.  My mother enrolled me in art lessons with a local art teacher while I was in elementary school.  Wendy taught me many things but mostly we sketched with charcoal and colored pencils. Although I always enjoyed drawing, I graduated from Penn State’s main campus with a marketing degree.  Art took a back seat as I married, raised 3 boys, started a real estate career and was too busy to get my art supplies out. My art accomplishments during this time period were painting murals in my children’s bedrooms and a castle room for my middle son. I wanted them to have magical rooms that would feed their imaginations.  

In 2006 my mother again enrolled me in an oil painting workshop with the accomplished impressionist painter, Connie Winters in Matthews, NC.  Needless to say, this was a very daunting experience as I had never used oil paints prior. They encouraged me to jump right in and I did. It was such a wonderful experience it sparked a new love of oil painting.  However, I also started a real estate career in 2006 which took off at the same time, so again I put my paints aside. In 2015 my husband and I traveled to Beaufort, SC and found Fripp Island. The beauty of the marsh, waterways, live oaks, and local architecture spoke to my creative soul and I started to paint again.  

In 2016 I again took Connie’s workshop, 10 years after my initial experience. I learned even more and since have taken many other workshops with successful artists.
