The beauty and wonder of nature inspire Elizabeth Fontaine-Barr to paint. Distinguished as an award winning, expressionistic painter, she translates her passion into color drenched landscapes that come mostly from her imagination.
She was born and raised in the unique and vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana. Fantastic Creole food, original music, artists on Jackson Square in the French Quarter and Mardi Gras all shaped her love and admiration for the creative energy that make up “The City That Care Forgot”.  Elizabeth decided at age 9 to be an artist. She remembers drawing Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa in colored pencil for her mother.  “I was so proud of that drawing. I would love to see it today. I know it would bring a smile to my face. Unfortunately, my early masterpieces were lost. And since I always loved to draw and doodle, I did more of that in class than listening to the teacher. It wasn’t until I was a sophomore in high school that I finally got on the honor roll”. Her mother did send her to a few local summer camps, but she never received any formal art training in any medium. 
She graduated from high school being the Art Editor of the Senior Yearbook and winning the Senior Art Award. Then off to college she went in pursuit of art training at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA.  After 2 years attending LSU, she was accepted into the Fashion Illustration/Advertising Design curriculum at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City. This was the plan B that she wanted to pursue, thinking it may be a way to help support her creative career.
