If there is one thing that is essential in this world it is the power of art.  Art is the individual expression of ones self offered to the world.
I am a Baton Rouge native, and known for being a romantic realist with a passion for the beauty seen in life.  I strive to portray the truthfulness of nature.  Nature is healing and inspirational, and her colors and her designs can't be beat.  And she is the best teacher.  My work is done freehand; my still lifes are painted directly from life without the use of photography.  Landscapes are started on location and finished in my studio.  My chosen medium is oil but I love to work in pencil and enjoy gouache as well.  I find endless still life compositions in my home and gardens.  I am absolutely astounded with Louisiana landscapes, especially the ones that encompass the live oak.
Drawing the figure from life keeps my drawing skills sharp, and sound compositions are attributed to studying the old masters, Vermeer, Corot, Chardin, Constable, Peter Paul Rubens, and William Trost Richards, among others.  I have painted for over 38 years and have studied with professional Arts in the Parks award winning artist Barrie Van Osdell, also with Carol Peebles and Auseklis Ozols of the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts and won each of their Faculty Awards.  I have also studied with Scott Waddell.  I have taken workshops with Michelle Dunnaway.  I am a full time artist and also teach oil painting classes in my studio and also teach workshops nationally.
I’m a Full Member of the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, an Associate with Distinction Member of American Women Artists, the Portrait Society of America, Associate Member of Oil Painters of America, the American Artists Professional League, the Baton Rouge Art League, and the Associated Women in the Arts.  I have been juried into and am a member of the [...]
