I am very proud to have been one of the juried artists for Oil Painters of America’s 2013 First Salon Show of Traditional Oils held at Crooked Tree Arts Center Inc. Petoskey, MI [6.21-8.31.’13]    Other points of interest from my painting background are as follows:National Society of Artists - Signature Member - Inducted 2010Inducted with Full Membership into Audubon Artists Inc. [NY, NY] - 2013Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, Inc.[ NY,NY]  - Full Membership - Inducted April 2015My paintings today are an evolution not only of my personal expression, but also my studies primarily with a Grand Master in Spain with whom I literally apprenticed for four years. Drawing & draftsmanship were emphasized first, before painting skills were taught. Juan Ignacio Sardi was truly a master of the still life and the sea. I studied them during the first two years. I continued to incorporate them in the works I did, along with landscapes and figurative studies for the next two years. Shadow & the interplay of light as it strikes were highlighted. Realism was the forte’, but understanding the underlying abstract in each piece was crucial. The palette he taught was unique and differed from those I’d studied in the United States. Today I utilize knowledge learnt from Juan & those I’ve studied with prior to apprenticing & afterwords to find my voice. I attended classes in Europe through the University of Maryland, studying in Paris at the Musee’ de Louvre, giving me another perspective and greatly rounding out my art knowledge & appreciation. My compositions have evolved, becoming more complex, but I stay true to the original principals taught as the foundation for my paintings.
