Dorothy, a long time theater director, scenic designer, and museum educator, presently works as a gallery owner and as a visual artist specializing in mixed media collage.  She attended Emerson College in Boston, is a graduate of Columbia University, and holds masters degrees in both theater and museum education leadership.  Dorothy and her husband lived for many years in the SoHo/Greenwich Village neighborhoods in Manhattan, where she studied collage at Cooper Union and painting/drawing at the School of Visual Arts and also attended the New York Studio and Forum of Scene Design. Throughout her childhood/teen years, and influenced by her mother - who was an artist/interior designer- she attended the renowned Brooklyn Museum Art School.
Dorothy was the director of DramaMUSE Associates, a company that created interactive theater productions and drama based programs for major museums, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian.  She also taught acting at New York University and is co-author of two widely used books about using theater as an interpretive teaching tool in educational settings.  Her book Pioneer Journeys: Drama in Museum Education, co-authored with Jennifer Fell Hayes, is a recipient of the American Alliance for Theater and Education's Distinguished Book Award. Dorothy's numerous awards include the honor of having 'River of Hope' chosen for Housatonic River Reflections, an exhibit at the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, and being awarded First Place for 'Unholy Visions' in an exhibit sponsored by UNIFEM - The United Nations Development Fund for Women.
