I'm professional watercolor & watermedia artist that enjoys painting a wide verity of subjects from Landscapes, Seascapes, Wildlife Art, Florals, and more. I want my paintings to tell a story while at the same time entertain the viewer. I absolutely love art and believe that it's a God given gift I'm very thankful to share!

Don Whitesel is a professional fine artist who loves painting in watercolor and watermedia! Subjects range from Landscapes, Seascapes, Wildlife Art, Sporting Art, Florals, and more. Paintings are done in watercolor occasionally using gouache for accents and detail when needed. Don began drawing and painting about the age of ten years old. When his Parent's recognized his artistic talent Don's Dad enlisted the help of his artist cousin to buy him art supplies. Later that year, at Christmas time Don remembers getting drawing & sketch pads, pencils, erasers, and pastels which was a great holiday! Over the years, the artist has grown to enjoy spending many hours drawing, sketching, and painting. He is influenced by artists like John Pike, Tony Couch, Charles Reid, Carlton Plummer, Andrew Wyeth, and other master watercolor artists. He is a is former student of the late David Lenker who painted in the Brandwine tradition who was also a friend of artist Andrew Wyeth as well. Don's passion's is to create colorful paintings of things that people miss or over look in every day life! Often times a painting will start out as a sketch or drawing of a subject that he's inspired by. He wants his watercolor paintings to have feeling and tell a story! Don lives in Lancaster, Pennsylvania with his wife Louise which is the heart of Amish country. There's plenty of old barns and rustic covered bridges through out the countryside to paint. The artist and his wife also enjoy traveling up to the beautiful Maine coast a favorite where they also enjoy spending time. Don's watercolor paintings hang in collections through out the Northeast and the Pacific Northwest United States.
