Biography


Don Jalbert is an award winning artist and writer and has been painting for over 40 years.  Influenced primarily by the French and American Impressionists, Don tries to capture the unique aspects of light during different times of the day.  His primary subjects are the farms, landscapes and seacoast of New England and the resident wildlife of the region.  Don has studied art at Springfield College, Salem State College, and Mass College of Art and has a degree in Business Administration from Eastern Nazarene College.  He was an apprentice to Impressionist artist John C. Terelak for many years.  Don's greatest influence from American Impressionism is Frank W. Benson, but his list of favorite artists is very long including Van Ruisdael, Monet, Pissarro, Hassam, Homer, Caravaggio among many others.  He has created a line of Christmas cards he sells at local craft fairs and sells note cards and prints of his paintings. 
 
Don lives and works in NH with his wife of 40 years, and his three dogs.  His resume includes teaching Web Development, Microsoft Computer Applications and Art at the high school level.  It also includes 20 years as a football coach, and over 10 years coaching field hockey.  He is an avid reader, writer and bird watcher.  He also loves music, military history, archaeology, metal detecting and scale modeling.
Don is an active member of Bethany Church, Raymond campus, and serves on the men’s ministry team.  He contributes regularly to the Memory Project, a mission organization that serves orphans around the world by creating portraits of orphans that they can keep as mementos of their youth.
