Biography

Dick Wimberly is a plein aire artist whose paintings communicate the moods and seasons of nature. He agrees with Winslow Homer that a painting should "give us witness to beauty." Dick is equally inspired by majestic mountainscapes and the intimacy of the colorful flowers of his own garden. "l can't remember a time when I was not drawing, painting or sculpting," Dick says. Dick has been a professional artist since receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern New Mexico University in 1980. He has studied with Wilson Hurley and Clyde Aspevig.
Dick has experience with a variety of media, but paints primarily in oils, using a traditional representational style. He is a member of Oil Painters of America and has exhibited in invitational and juried shows and galleries throughout the Southwest. His work has been acquired by public institutions and corporate and private collectors around the world. He has received awards from the Southwest Arts and Crafts Festival, the National Small Paintings Exhibit, [...]
