Dianna Poindexter is an expressionistic painter who lives and works in the Washington, DC, and Rehoboth Beach, DE, areas. Her dedication as an activist for civil rights and environmental protection inspires her work. While in the DC area, she paints events associated with civil liberties and political movements. She uses color and bold brush strokes to capture emotion and moments in history. While on the eastern shore, Dianna turns to nature and paints life on and around the coast to include the wetlands, ocean, and vintage wooden boats. Her unique style captures light, movement and the poetic beauty of nature. Dianna stays true to her values and only uses water soluble oil paints since they are safe for the environment and non-toxic.
Professionally trained, Dianna holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia PA. Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. Her work was also featured in several publications and can be found in many private collections.
Dianna is originally from Scottsdale, AZ. She was drawn to the east coast where she relocated over thirty years ago. As her art depicts, Dianna is an activist at heart. She feels strongly about justice, respect and compassion for all living beings. She lives with her wife (Margo), rescue dog (Lily Pad), and mother/daughter rescue cats (Macy Gray and Squeak) in a home full of love and inspiration.
