An example of fine art by DIANE STAUB

My art is the work of an introvert. Intimacy is valued over big statements. Expression flows from reflection. For me, drawing is thought, analysis; writing is emotion. Painting, when it works, is the intersection of thinking and feeling. I do a lot of looking. I mull over.
As a result, I’m a slow painter. My approach could be defined as the opposite of plein air. I want to work into a piece, take time to understand visually what I’m trying to do. Sometimes I scrape off everything I did the day before.
I tend to do representational pieces. Color is important. Pattern often is, as well. At least some of my work feels narrative. Other paintings are more like meditations about an object, or an attempt to capture a personal resonance.
Some of my images are on FineArtAmerica
Lots of artist-designed cards, including mine, are featured on Signed Cards
