The Artist Says:

My goal in painting is to convey not only the look of the scene but also some of the excitement I felt painting it. I try to translate this excitement into bravura brushwork or dynamic composition or exaggerated color or gesture ..whatever it takes to feed my idea. The view is a springboard and my sensibility informs the process after that initial impression. The surface qualities are very important in the finished works. Sometimes I get that first thing out of the box but  I often will return to pieces for months and even years because they don't yet have that sensual surface that I am striving to achieve. Some pieces never achieve it and that is when I get the little bonfire going!!
