The Artist Says:

I love to paint outdoors as well as in the studio. Mountains or by the sea. While approaching each painting individually, I try to capture the essence of what attracted me to the subject. It may be a rock overhang, the interplay of light on a surface, motion, or the reflections of color, or nostalgia. Not to be limited by actual color of an object, I choose colors that express my mood at the time of creating.

I discovered drawing as a young person of ten and took every art class available during my high school days, including a summer program at Cranbrook institute of Art in Michigan. I enjoyed portraiture and commissioned several jobs in high school before going off to Michigan State University where I studied art during my first year.
Then after an almost 40 year hiatus, I discovered plein air painting in Taos NM after moving there in 2013. As I spend my winters in Mexico on our sailboat with my husband, I met and took a watercolor workshop with Ann Lockett in Conception Bay, and haven't put my brush down since.
The stark beauty of both New Mexico and Baja California Sur provide me with endless subject material. I paint weekly with the Plein Air Painters of Taos, am a member of the Taos Watercolor Society, and show my paintings with both groups.
