I was born and raised in New Jersey surrounded by a family of artists, studied graphic design and illustration at Parsons in the 1970s and over the years continually renovated and updated my own style. By using stencils, I hope to reveal the intrinsic repetition both in the natural and the man-made with recursive symbols. I frequently lean into my graphic design background by using design systems to organize these motifs. Additionally, I focus on contrast to inform the composition of my pieces, using the variety to allow the subjects to take on a life of their own.

Why I Make Art
Living with art is life affirming—joyous and available to everyone. For me making art has always been an integral part of my life but, over the years I have discovered that living with art is almost as important.
My art making is intuitive, and I find quite honestly a little mysterious—I am drawn to certain subjects and my color palette tends to gravitate towards earth tones, I love to play with textures and sharp edges but, other than that I’m not sure why I do what I do. Why that shape? Why am I placing it there? Adding and subtracting until it feels right. When strangers or other artists respond to my work, I feel like we share a certain understanding, our own peculiar language. This connection is so gratifying and strong. It is the reason why, I suppose, I make art. When I live with art those conversations are a daily occurrence. I feel connected to a larger community which, I believe, is available  to everyone.
My art work is affordably priced and payment plans are available.

Studied portraiture at The Art Students League with Robert Brachman.

Studied graphic design at Parsons School of Design.
