Artist Debra Dartez

An example of fine art by Debra Dartez

Photo of Debra Dartez

After spending childhood in love with drawing, discovering painting in high school, and graduation college with a degree in Studio Art, Debra received her masters degree in Medical Illustration in 2005.  Through working  as a medical illustrator her love of realism developed.  Several years later she moved on to her greatest creative passion: oil painting.
As a military wife and mother, her life has taken her coast to coast encountering new climates and cultures along the way; these unique scenes from all over the USA have intensified her love of the outdoors and are the inspiration for her paintings.  Other inspirations include the peace, calm, and tranquility that solitude in nature brings, as well a the beauty found in ordinary day-to-day life.
For Debra there is no substitute for taking in a scene outside in nature, so it’s no surprise that’s where she prefers to paint.  She captures the shadows and light and depths of colors that can only be truly seen by the human eye by painting them in the field.  Then, she often brings those studies back to complete in the studio while staying true to the original feel and colors of the scene. Attaining a unique feeling and mood for each place she paints is paramount in her pieces and comes through when viewing them.
