Biography

Deborah Whytock has been an artist in one form or another most of her life. In 1998, collaborating with another artist, she opened her own studio/ gallery. Breaking even the first year in business, though exceptional, was not adequate to survive financially. So she attended Loma Linda University to study physical therapy. After 15 years as a Physical Therapist Assistant she returned to art.

Her current focus is on photographs that display eclectic choices and find continuity in her style, which gravitates toward the drama of black and white. Her goal is to give you a view into what she sees. She has participated in numerous exhibitions throughout the country. In 2018 she was the recipient of two 1st place photography awards. Her affiliations include Springfield Regional Arts Council, Studio 55 Arts Guild, Best of Missouri Hands, and she is a founding member of Heartland Art Club. Despite her focus on photography, Deborah continues to paint and draw as often as possible.

Deborah and her husband own Oak Rose Studio in Springfield, Missouri. While John’s primary focus is painting, she manages the business, including all websites, social media, and marketing of their collective works and educational endeavors. While she does not write code, she has been designing and maintaining websites for the past 14 years. Her teaching experience is varied, and includes all ages in private and community settings.
