Artist Deborah Strube

An example of fine art by Deborah Strube

Photo of Deborah Strube

My medium of choice is pastels. I passionately pursue creative ways to use these tools to express my connection to the world. I am attracted by the lights and darks of a subject matter. And I love the story- a winding trail in the woods, a  kite caught in a tree, an unfinished chess game, or a lit corner in a room.
My paintings begin with exploration. I take my camera and roam, walking through a hundred year old farmhouse early in the morning to capture the sunlight as it peeks through the windows or strolling outside to photo those special moments where the sun dances between the light and the dark.
To continue the adventure, I bring my photographs to the studio, using them as references as I paint. I am constantly pushing myself as an artist, enjoying the journey every step of the way.
