It seems as far back as I can remember I have always turned to my creative side as a place of solitude.  I loved taking a blank piece of paper and making it come alive with color.  The more detail, the better.  As I grew older and wondered what career path I should choose, I considered my love for art and architecture and an instinctual knack with numbers.  The two combined meant I could only be an architect.  But life always has a way of taking you down different paths.  I married out of college and had a beautiful daughter.  The Architectural path gave way to Business Administration, and I spent the next thirty-three years in corporate America. 
There was always a sense of restlessness while working, but I couldn’t figure out why.  It wasn’t until 2010 that some friends invited me to join a group of oil painters that met for three hours, one night a week.  I joined, and from that moment was hooked.  It was the key to my calm.  I didn’t realize how much I had missed exercising the creative side of my person.
After only a few months with the group the lead artist, Winnie DeSchutter, suddenly passed.  We were all devastated.  Winnie was the kindest soul I had ever met.  I have a painting of Winnie’s that was gifted to me by her daughter, Kim.  I will always cherish that painting.  Kim eventually brought our group back together for our weekly paint outings, and that was a true blessing for me.
