Artist Darlene Pearse

An example of fine art by Darlene Pearse

As a young child, I grew up near the beaches of Padre Island in Corpus Christi.  When I was eight years old, my grandmother gave me a “paint by number” oil painting set.  I was hooked.  When viewing thin sections of rocks and minerals in college, I saw the beautiful abstract designs found in nature and was inspired to paint again.  As a plein air landscape painter for 25 years I was always in nature. My art later transitioned to more abstracted seascapes. I add sand to my oil paintings to give unexpected texture and flow that reflect the rhythm of the sea and beach.
A long-time Naples resident, I'm an active member in the Naples art community.  Over the last 20 years, my work has been featured in local galleries and art shows as well as in the book, Artists in Their Studios, by Ruth Dwyer.  My most recent honor includes receiving the Award of Distinction at the Naples National Art Festival.
