Artist Darla Zook

An example of fine art by Darla Zook

Darla Zook grew up in the wide-open spaces of western Oklahoma.  While working with her Father on the family farm, music was a creative outlet for her family.  These experiences planted in her the passion to portray the beauty  she sees around her through her music and art.  Now living on a farm in Missouri, she is married to Duane Zook and they have 2 daughters:  Casey and Shelby.
After graduating with a BA in Art and Music Education, Darla taught art in the public school system for twenty-nine years, retiring in 2006.  While teaching, she continued to create art of her own, also completing a MA with an emphasis on transparent watercolor from Central Missouri State University.  She illustrated the book, "The Yoder Outsiders", by James Yoder, with both a watercolor painting and pen and ink drawings.  For the 6th consecutive year, she had the opportunity to display her art work at Silver Dollar City's 2016 annual Harvest Festival, for the months of September and October.
Painting plein air is an ongoing endeavor which supports her artistic theory that the earth is a living, breathing sculpture created by the Master's hand.  Every day has anticipation of how light reflects on surfaces as the sun rises over the horizon and sets in the west, making each day a unique work of art, a gift from God.  Darla's desire is to illustrate that beauty in her art.
