An example of fine art by Daniel Prickett

Photo of Daniel Prickett

Growing up in upstate New York, Daniel Prickett developed an early interest in the arts and worked with one of his instructors in high school to develop his painting skills.  As an undergraduate at the University of Illinois, he painted in his spare time but focused mainly on gaining a degree and deciding on a career direction.  After earning an advanced degree and serving as a signal officer in the U.S. Army, Prickett embarked on a thirty-eight year career in investment management and banking.      During the first week of his retirement in 2007,  he attended an artist's workshop in Charleston, SC, led by William Jameson, the noted North Carolina artist.  Prickett has been a devoted student ever since studying with Mark Horton, George Snyder, and Joyce Hall, among others.  Daniel and his wife, Nancy, now live on Kiawah Island, SC enjoying the low country and its people.      Daniel is a big believer in light and color and one can see that belief reflected in his work.  His landscapes are rich with the natural hues of the Carolina seascapes, marshes and woodlands.  Early morning and late afternoon are ideal times to capture these natural colors since they are especially visible at these times throught the seasons. When indoors, his still lifes take on the warm reflections of the environment surounding his subjects.
Prickett is a member of the Kiawah Island Art Guild.
