"Exploring how light reveals form, shapes and color has most recently become my focus with both figures and still life" - Cynthia SpruillA native of Topeka, Kansas, Cynthia Spruill began drawing at an early age.  Art instruction in High School included Saturday art classes at a nearby university.  After a year of art study at the University of Kansas, she eventually graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education.  It was during her freshman year at the University of Kansas that she discovered the fascination and challenge of drawing the figure from life.  Even though she spent most of her adult life working in other fields and living on both coasts, she continued to draw and paint, sometimes attending classes evenings and Saturdays at the Kansas City Art Institute in Kansas City, Missouri and the Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland when living nearby.  After taking an early retirement she joined a life drawing group which presented the opportunity of working from a live model three sessions every week.  Since then, the opportunity of attending workshops with nationally known artists including Carolyn Anderson, Laura Robb,  Kim English and M. Kathryn Massey has expanded her knowledge and vision of what is artistically possible.   She is an Associate Member of Oil Painters of America and the American Impressionist Society,  currently livining in Boise, Idaho.
