"My goal as an artist is to create paintings with a poetic representation of nature. In painting landscapes and figures, my emphasis is on color, distance, air and space .  I want to create a mood , often tranquil, to draw the viewer in.
I often incorporate gold leaf and silver leaf with my oils. My finished pieces are achieved by applying layers of paint with translucent glazes sometimes in the gilded areas to allow for different levels of reflected light." - Colleen Gallo
