Biography

A native of Quebec, Canada, Claudette began drawing and painting at an early age and was always at the top of her art classes. Her dream upon completion of high school was to attend the Beaux Arts in Montreal to develop a career in art.
However, for practical reasons, Claudette postponed her dream of Art to pursue a career in nursing. Graduating from Montreal Hotel Dieu Hospital of Nursing and Montreal University, she became a Registered Nurse and within just a few years she rose to become the Head Nurse for the Obstretic and Gynecology division of St. Jerome Hotel Dieu Hospital and remained in that position until she married.
Moving to Charleston from Canada during the 1970s with her husband, Claudette resumed following her dream to develop a career in Art. Traveling to many parts of the world with her husband, she visited many art galleries and museums. She also studied under many leading artists and is affiliated with the Gibbes Museum of Arts. She became a member of the Charleston Artist Guild. Her work is now in numerous private collections and some are in the St. Frances and Roper Hospital collections. After working in watercolor and acrylics, Claudette has returned to her first love - Oils - which she considers to be the most versatile of all painting media.
Claudette is mostly inspired by nature and outdoor scenes where she has opportunities to explore the movement, light, and colors that are central to her compositions.

Her work has been entered in various competitions in the Charleston area and in out of state juried art shows. In 2006 her work was accepted to the National Bank of South Carolina traveling show and in 2008 her work was selected for the Carolina - Caribbean Connecton Traveling Show.  Claudette's work has been recognized by numerous awards [...]
