People ask me what I like to paint, and I answer, everything!  My choice of subject and medium vary in the search for meaning and technique, but most are inspired by images that have spurred an emotional or narrative response: wonder, curiosity, tenderness, awe. Whether I am painting a light-struck pear, an empty room, a woman at work, or even an abstract, I am telling a story. The works I like best have a painterly approach, with an active and even an embellished surface. I like to see the gesture of the painter's brushstrokes because this creates a feeling of immediacy - as if I am alongside the viewer and they can feel the application of the paint. For me, this is the essence of painterly realism: creating art that is both abstract and representational by turns.
Originally from New York , I earned a BA degree from The University of Pennsylvania, then worked for 10 years as a designer before transitioning to fine art.  My work has been printed by Art Resources International, The National Federation for the Preservation of Wildlife and has been licensed by Retroneu tableware.  I am the honored recipient of  the Endicott Award from The Northeast Watercolor Society, and the Best Watercolor, WATERWORKS, Iona College, among other awards.
Affiliations include Juried Artist Member of The Hammond Musem, Signature membership at The Northeast Watercolor Society, Artist Member of The Katonah Museum of Art,  Associate Member of Allied Artists, The Kent Art Society,  and a charter member of NWAG. Currently, I teach and live in Northern Westchester, New York.
