Christine McBryan grew up in Narberth, Pennsylvania, a western suburb of Philadelphia. One of nine children, she was the only person in her family who showed an interest in art.Coming from a long line of engineers, Christine was advised to study design at Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science. She had a successful career as a textile designer, concentrating on jacquard woven fabrics for interiors. In 1992, she moved to New York City and began to seriously study drawing and painting. She started taking classes part-time. Suddenly, one night class turned into two, and then every day while working full time in textiles. In 1999 on a friend's suggestion, Christine took a sabbatical moved to Florence, Italy to study at Charles H. Cecil Studios. A serious medical diagnosis brought her back to New York City toward the end of that year. After recovering from cancer, she went back to work as a designer while painting part-time.
In 2015, Christine made the leap to become a full time painter. A year later, she had further health issues and spent many months fully recuperating from spinal surgery. By the following year, she was again able to devote her time to her artwork.Christine is grateful each day that she can make her artistic dreams a reality, working on paintings as well as commissions.Shows:
