An example of fine art by Christine Bass

Christine Jaramillo Bass was born in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado, USA. She was sixth
among nine brothers and sisters, and spent her primary and high school years growing up in the
small mining town, Silverton, Colorado. She attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado.
As far back as she can remember, Christine loved all artistic endeavors that were available to her,
and spent as much of her free time as possible roaming the mountains, absorbing the grandeur
of nature's scenic beauty.
Her romance with the landscape began with the wind whispering through the spruce trees, the
heavy laden winter snows and the fresh renewing spirit of spring; their changing beauty
continues to inspire her to capture their spirit in paint. The rural scenes of Virginia have now
entered that dance, where she now lives with her husband Tom.
Today, Christine has one son, two daughters, seven grandchildren and three great grand
children. She has worked as the San Juan County, CO EMS Director, the San Juan
County, CO Deputy Coroner, and is currently a Chiropractic Assistant and Office Manager
in Roanoke, Virginia.
Though she has studied composition with master artist, Johannes Vloothuis, Christine
is primarily a self-taught artist with acritical eye for perfection. Her artwork is a unique
blend of scenic perspectives that lean toward the impressionistic but yet are so realistic
that the viewer feels a need to become a part of the scene.
Christine's unique flair for compositions of subject matter, her subtle blending of pastel
colors, and her extraordinary talent for producing depths of field are
truly heartwarming and pleasing to the eye. One cannot help being drawn into the scenes
as the mind visualizes the stories that surely must have inspired the pastel works of art
that are Christine's exceptional talent.
She has won multiple awards for her miniature art work and was invited by the
American Artist Collectors Magazine to be included in the 2019 miniature art section.

ARTIST STATEMENT:  I endeavor to not only share the beauty of the world around us through my art, but to engage the viewer by inviting them into the painting. I want them to pull up their own memories of similar places and relive the experiences of the smells and sounds and the feelings they had. I hope they come away with some of the feelings I have  when I am outdoors and enjoying the landscape around me. I hope my art work gives them that same peace and happiness of heart that I feel.
