Artist Chris Rightmer

An example of fine art by Chris Rightmer

Photo of Chris Rightmer

Prior to art, Chris Rightmer’s only formal training had been in business. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in Omaha with an International Business degree, followed with a 2 and ½ year stay in Morocco with the Peace Corps. He then continued studies with a Masters degree from Thunderbird, American Graduate School of International Management. Chris found his true calling in 2000 in between jobs. He picked up some pastels in hopes of finding a new hobby, but instead found his true talent and passion. Since then his work has blossomed. From pastels, he moved on to oils as a medium of choice because of their “flexibility and brilliance of color.” He especially draws upon the works of the Dutch Masters for inspiration in still life.Over the years, Chris has mentored with Jack Wahl for plein air and landscape projects, and Russ Recchion for portrait instruction.  While being an active member of the Board of Directors for the Tucson Plein Air Painters Society, he has served as Paint Out Chairman, Treasuer, and Presidnet.
He is currently represented by:

2004:  Two paintings selected for top 8 selections/Karen Newby Gallery Small Works Show
2007:  3rd Place recipient in Tucson Plein Air Painters Society all member show/Max Gallery
2008:  3rd Place recipient in Bisbee Plein Air competition
2008:  Honorable Mention in Tucson Plein Air Painters Society all member show/Tubac Center for the Arts
