Artist Cheryl Gorn

An example of fine art by Cheryl Gorn

I am the grown-up version of the kid who can’t sit still because they need to be constantly making things. Playing with texture and color fascinates me, which is why I have always been drawn to fabric. As a young person, I made everything from bathing suits to a soft couch, and eventually graduated to making hand painted silk fine art pieces. More recently, I was lured by the texture and color that’s possible by combining plaster, paint and stained glass.
Although I was trained to be a museum administrator, I worked in that field for only a brief time. Remembering how painful it was to sit still through decades of school, I created and for 20 years taught hands-on educational programs in schools that combined textile art with social studies. I stopped offering my programs in 2017, when I decided to focus on making and selling my art.
