Artist Charlotte Baugus

An example of fine art by Charlotte Baugus

I can identify with the great artist, Frida Kahlo. I paint because I need to. I believe it is a God given gift, a part of me and who I am.  I am a native Texan and I reside in Irving, Texas with my husband and two dogs.
Being a self-taught artist my love of art began at a very early age, painting ceramics, paint by number kits and any craft I could find. Over the years I have painted with water colors and acrylics but I always went back to oil painting. I love the texture of oils and how I can push the paint around on the canvas to create lights, darks, shadows and form.
I have had the opportunity to study with some incredible artists such as western artist, Jack Sorenson and representational artist, Kelli Folsom. My art has been described as classic, colorful, and filled with light.  I paint mostly still life from display setups in my home studio. I am a member of the American Impressionist Society, Inc, and the  Irving Art Association and recent recipient of the Best in Show award for my painting. "Tea Time."
I continue to paint..
