Photo of Char Eppright

As a Texas girl, Char Eppright grew up in Austin and has lived in the capital city all of her life. She attended the University of Texas, married her high school sweetheart and has two children, three grandchildren and a great grandson. At age 10, someone gave Char some paints and brushes … from then on she was hooked.
After taking art classes at the University of Texas, Char continued training with workshops under Dan Gerhartz, Frank Covino, Joan Salvant, Daniel Greene and John Howard Sanden at the Art Students League in New York. Artists she admires are Adolphe Bouguereau and Nicolai Fechin.
Char paints in several mediums --  pastel, oil, watercolor and acrylics. She

participated in many exhibits and won many awards
taught art for many years in her studio gallery on Burnet Rd
provided painting demonstrations for local art societies
was a founding member of Austin Pastel Society in 1998.

In Char’s own words, “I don’t know why I love to paint. It’s just something that comes from the heart. After 40 years of painting commissioned portraits in pastels and oils, I decided to branch out into other mediums and genres. This is giving me the ability to be expressive and free with my work. I am enjoying the freedom to experiment with all facets of painting.”
