Growing up on an Iowa farm, I roamed the woods, riverbanks, and meadows. As a child, I stood on our hillside and gazed in awe at the patterns of fields, rivers and movement of nature. The art in nature and patterns of light captured my spirit very early. 
I received my undergraduate, MA and doctoral degrees in Iowa where I taught and served as an elementary and secondary school administrator for over 35 years. I also enjoyed my curriculum work with two publishing companies. After moving with my husband to Florida permanently in 2008 to be near one of our sons and his family in our retirement, I increased my commitment to painting. I had begun seriously drawing and painting in 2002 when I joined an Iowa City, IA drawing group led by Laura Young, an artist and University of Iowa art professor. Marcia Wegman a renowned pastel artist took me under her wing for a summer of pastel instruction. I continue to use pastels in my work. In Florida, I dived into classes and workshops taught by Eleanor Blair and Linda Pence. Soon, my workbench “studio” in the garage expanded to a much larger, well-lit space. I have continued with classes and workshops since then, learning much from Janet Rogers, Robin Popp, Anda Chance, Gwen Fox and other generous and talented artists. I am a member of the Florida Watercolor Society.  I have been a member of Gainesville Fine Arts Association for 12 years and have found artists to be generous in sharing their knowledge, passion for the arts, and encouragement!  I have so much to be grateful for as I keep my brush wet!!
My art is in private collections, one public collection, and has received recognition/awards in the Gainesville Fine Arts Association exhibits. The abstract "Systems" was selected to be exhibited at [...]
