Artist Cathy Zimmermann

An example of fine art by Cathy Zimmermann

Photo of Cathy Zimmermann

Cathy Zimmermann began to show an interest in art as a young girl. She was mentored by Margo Locke, while living close to San Francisco. Margo was an illustrator and oil painter at the time. Cathy later studied fine art at the University of St. Thomas, and studied under Earl Staley, Pat Colville and Jack Boyton. Modern Art was the main influence at the time.
She then went to Texas Academy of Art, and after graduating, became a Graphic Designer. Her main passion in life was always to become a painter. She was able to start that journey, after retiring. Classes were taken at The Art League in Houston, with artist and teacher, Steve Parker, where she really developed a love for Landscape Painting! Further study was done with Deborah Paris, where she learned about the Hudson River School artists, like George Inness, Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Cole and many more. The main focus of study was on Tonalism.
She would love to share her artwork with you, in hopes that you will see God’s beauty in ordinary life as she does.
