Artist Catharine McGurk-Kelble

An example of fine art by Catharine McGurk-Kelble

I currently paint from my studio in Ringoes, N.J. I paint in the oil medium, preferring to build depth, complexity and texture using palette knives and brushes. I apply a limited range of color while constructing values, light and shadow in a wide range of landscape, still life and seascape paintings.
More modern works are more color-saturated, bold and intense, reflecting expressive, contemporary themes.
I am inspired by a wide array of artists, both living and that have passed, who use a range of styles, color, subject matter and techniques.
The surrounding Bucks County, Pa., and Hunterdon County, N.J., countryside lend a rich, seasonal supply of artistic material and inspiration  , with historic parks, bridges, mills, barns, rivers and townscapes.
I support local community events and have participated in Bucks County at the Rolling Green Barn, Stover Mill Gallery,  Prallsville Mill Gallery, and "Art of the Barn," and in Hunterdon County at the annual "Shad Festival" in Lambertville and the County Library-sponsored art shows in Flemington.
