An example of fine art by Cary Sober

Photo of Cary Sober

Carolyn Malon Sober (nicknamed Cary as a child) has been painting for over 35 years. After many years of taking informal painting classes, she finally earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Maryland in 1990 focusing on painting.
Currently using acrylic paints, Cary says she paints what she wants.  Having evolved from hard-edged geometrics, to large nature-inspired color-field landscapes, Cary is now exploring the use of "high flow" acrylic paints.  "It is a very expressive technique which requires a new kind of control; an exciting new challenge.," says Cary.
 Cary is currently a member of the Valley Educational Center for the Creative Arts (VECCA), Woodstock, VA;
 formerly a member of the 7 East Gallery, Woodstock, VA; Gallery West, Old Town Alexandria, VA; Strathmore Hall, Rockville, MD; King Street Art Works, Strasburg, VA,  and the Arts Council of Fairfax County, VA.  She has recently joined  Calabash Photography, an art gallery in Calabash, NC; Waterway Art Association, Calabash, NC; and Brunswick Arts Council.
